Discover Our Photography Tours UK
At the start of September, we hosted the third of our photography trips in Yorkshire—and it was a resounding success! Over three days, ten passionate photographers joined us to capture Yorkshire’s dramatic seascapes, historic ruins, lively harbours, and the quiet beauty of the moors.
Our photography tours UK are about more than just taking photos. They’re an opportunity to connect with like-minded people, learn new techniques, and explore some of the most photogenic locations the UK has to offer. From experimenting with long exposures on Scarborough’s seafront to photographing steam trains on the moors, every moment brought fresh inspiration and learning.

Day One: Photographing the Spirit of Scarborough
Exploring the Town and Harbour
After settling into the stylish Bike & Boot Hotel, our guests began the holiday with a walking photography tour of Scarborough. Highlights included Scarborough Castle, the colourful harbour, South Bay Beach and the ancient Leeds Arms for some well-earned refreshment, each location offering a chance to practice composition and framing.
Night Photography on the Seafront
As evening fell, we turned our attention to the seafront. Tripods came out, and guests experimented with slow shutter speeds to capture the shimmering lights of the arcades, the reflections on the water, and the grandeur of the Scarborough Grand Hotel. This first evening set the tone for our exciting photography tours UK adventure.
Day Two: Photography Trips in Yorkshire – The North Yorkshire Moors and Steam Trains

Capturing Rugged Landscapes
The second day was all about landscapes. We travelled to the North Yorkshire Moors, where sweeping valleys, wild heather, and dramatic skies challenged participants to think creatively about leading lines and perspective.
Grosmont Station and Steam Heritage
A highlight of our photography tours uk in Yorkshire was our visit to Grosmont Station, where heritage steam trains offered dynamic photographic opportunities. Guests captured the movement of the engines, the intricate details of the station, and the nostalgia of railway travel. We also enjoyed a picnic surrounded by rolling moorland views—perfect for combining relaxation with practice.
Day Three: Seascapes, Puffins and Seals at Flamborough
Long Exposure at Flamborough Head
On our final full day, we journeyed south to the rugged cliffs of Flamborough Head, where land, sea, and sky meet in dramatic harmony. Here, participants experimented with neutral density filters, transforming the restless waves into ethereal, mist-like ribbons and capturing the raw power of the sea in striking long exposures. Along the cliffs, Gannets, Razorbills and Puffins darted across the sky while seals basked at the base of the cliffs, adding life and movement to the sweeping coastal vistas. It was a day that blended technical exploration with pure awe at Yorkshire’s wild seascapes.
Photographing Local Heritage
We also met fishermen working with their impressive lobster catches—an authentic glimpse into Scarborough’s maritime culture. Later, we photographed waves crashing against the town’s sea wall, a lesson in timing, anticipation, and patience.

A Magical Sunrise and Dolphins
The holiday ended with an unforgettable sunrise shoot at Scarborough Harbour. As the morning light spread across the water, dolphins appeared, leaping playfully in the waves. It was the perfect finale to a memorable trip.

Skills and Workshops
Each morning began with a practical workshop at the hotel, covering key photography skills. Topics included:
- Mastering the exposure triangle
- Using manual camera functions
- Composing and framing images
- Finding and working with natural light
With just seven photographers on the trip, everyone received personalised instruction and feedback. Lillie encouraged participants to embrace their unique vision, ensuring that our photography tours UK remain open, creative spaces rather than prescriptive lessons.
By the end, guests left with a stronger command of their cameras, stunning images, and the confidence to continue exploring photography independently.
Food, Friendship, and Community
Our Photography Trips in Yorkshire are about far more than capturing images—they’re about immersing yourself in the full experience. Evenings were spent gathered around tables at beloved local spots like the Magpie Café in Whitby, where the salty sea air mingled with the aroma of freshly cooked fish, and at the Lookout on the Pier, where plates of seafood were served with panoramic views of the harbour. One of the most memorable moments came at Crema e Cioccolato, where we enjoyed private dining at this wonderful Italian-run café. The rich aroma of espresso, handmade breads and special Crostini equalled any of our holidays in Tuscany. These meals weren’t just about food—they were about connection. Laughter echoed over shared plates, stories flowed as easily as the wine, and new friendships were formed that will last long after the trip itself.
One of the joys of our photography tours UK is the community that develops. What begins as a group of strangers quickly becomes a circle of supportive, creative friends.
Looking Ahead: Scarborough 2026
We’re thrilled to be returning to Scarborough. This trip will once again feature Yorkshire’s best photography locations, delicious meals, and opportunities to grow as a photographer. With Scarborough dolphins making a surprise appearance this year, who knows what magic awaits next summer!
