For more than a decade, we've been sharing our passion for Italy through inspiring photography holidays designed for travellers who love to explore with a camera. Our Sicily Photography Holidays offer the perfect opportunity to discover one of the Mediterranean's most captivating islands while enjoying the company of fellow photography enthusiasts.

From colourful fishing villages and historic streets to dramatic coastlines and the towering presence of Mount Etna, Sicily is filled with photographic opportunities at every turn. The island's rich heritage, vibrant culture and spectacular scenery create an unforgettable backdrop for capturing unique and meaningful images.

Over five truly wonderful days, you’ll experience the warmth of Sicilian hospitality while developing your photography in a relaxed and supportive environment. Along the way, you’ll savour delicious local cuisine, visit remarkable locations and share memorable moments with like-minded guests.

We believe exceptional Sicily photography holidays should offer both quality and value. Italy remains close to Lillie’s heart, and this Sicily experience has been carefully crafted to showcase the island’s beauty, character and charm while creating memories and photographs you’ll treasure long after returning home.

Lillie partners with her good friend Charlie Mitford for our photography holidays in Sicily. Charlie lived in Italy for 20 years, she is an accomplished event and vacation planner with enviable connections and a deep love for Italy.

The first two days of your photography holiday in Sicily are spent in the enchanting hilltop town of Ragusa Ibla, one of southeastern Sicily’s most beautiful and historic destinations. Renowned for its magnificent late-Baroque architecture and recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ragusa Ibla provides an unforgettable setting for photography and exploration.

Perched along a dramatic limestone ridge overlooking a deep gorge, Ragusa Ibla was lovingly rebuilt after the devastating earthquake of 1693. Today, its maze of narrow streets, elegant piazzas, and historic buildings offers endless photographic opportunities. The town is home to 18 UNESCO-listed monuments, including the magnificent Duomo di San Giorgio, making it the perfect location to capture Sicily’s rich history, timeless architecture, and unique atmosphere.

The final two days of your photography holiday in Sicily are spent in the captivating coastal city of Syracuse (Siracusa), one of Italy’s most fascinating historic destinations. Set on the sparkling Ionian Sea, Syracuse offers an inspiring blend of ancient history, stunning architecture, and vibrant Sicilian culture, making it the perfect finale to your photography adventure.

The city is divided between mainland Syracuse, home to some of the Mediterranean’s most impressive ancient Greek archaeological sites, and the enchanting island of Ortigia, the city’s atmospheric historic centre. Connected by a short bridge and largely pedestrianised, Ortigia is a photographer’s dream, with its elegant Baroque palaces, bustling local markets, picturesque piazzas, charming waterfront, and the legendary Fountain of Arethusa. Every corner presents an opportunity to capture the unique character, colour, and timeless beauty that make Sicily one of Italy’s most photogenic destinations.

Meet Your Tutor – Lillie

Lillie has over 10 years of experience teaching photography and has delivered courses for leading organisations including The Photographers’ Gallery, The Nikon School, as well as through her own successful photography tuition business. With a degree in Photojournalism and extensive experience as a professional photographer, she combines technical expertise with creative guidance, making her the perfect tutor for our photography holidays in Italy.

As part of your photography holiday in Sicily, Lillie will lead four interactive morning workshops designed to help you improve your photography skills. Covering key topics such as composition, natural light, and camera settings, each session is followed by practical photography experiences where you’ll apply what you’ve learned while exploring Sicily’s spectacular landscapes, charming villages, and coastal scenery. One workshop includes an early morning sunrise shoot, carefully planned around local weather conditions to make the most of Sicily’s beautiful natural light.

Whether you’re looking to build confidence with your camera or refine your creative style, Lillie’s hands-on teaching approach ensures you’ll learn by doing. This immersive photography course in Sicily offers the perfect balance of expert tuition, inspiring locations, and relaxed travel, giving you the opportunity to return home with stronger photography skills and unforgettable images from one of Italy’s most picturesque destinations.

What You’ll Learn on Our Photography Holidays in Sicily

Our photography holidays in Sicily are designed for photographers of all abilities, whether you’re just getting started or looking to refine your existing skills. Combining expert tuition with hands-on photography experiences, each day features engaging morning workshops followed by practical sessions in Sicily’s spectacular landscapes, historic towns, and picturesque streets.

1. Mastering the Exposure Triangle

Build a solid understanding of the three essential elements of exposure—aperture, shutter speed, and ISO—and learn how they work together to create beautifully balanced images. Throughout the course, you’ll discover how to:

  • Use aperture to create soft, blurred backgrounds for portraits, maximise depth of field in landscapes, or capture intricate macro details.
  • Control shutter speed to freeze movement or create dynamic panning shots in Sicily’s lively streets and bustling markets.
  • Adjust ISO confidently for low-light photography in atmospheric churches, historic buildings, and evening settings.

2. Getting the Most from Your Camera

Gain confidence using your camera’s key functions and settings, allowing you to shoot more creatively in any situation. You’ll learn how to adjust white balance in changing light, use focus modes effectively for moving subjects, and explore black-and-white photography to capture the timeless character of Sicily. By the end of your photography holiday, you’ll have a thorough understanding of your camera and the confidence to use it with ease.

3. Creating Stronger Compositions

Great photographs begin with thoughtful composition. Through inspiring examples from renowned photographers and practical demonstrations, you’ll learn how to frame compelling images, balance your subjects, and develop a more creative photographic eye. These techniques will help you capture Sicily’s stunning scenery and authentic everyday moments with confidence.

4. Understanding and Using Natural Light

Light is one of the most important elements of photography, and throughout the course you’ll learn how to recognise and work with it effectively. Discover how to make the most of soft morning light, open shade, and indirect sunlight, while also learning techniques for photographing interiors using higher ISO settings and tripods. Lillie will share practical advice on finding the best light at every location to elevate your images.

5. Practical Photography Around Sicily

Each afternoon, you’ll put your new skills into practice while exploring Sicily’s beautiful coastline, charming villages, medieval streets, and breathtaking countryside. With personalised guidance from Lillie, you’ll receive individual feedback to help refine your compositions, improve your use of light, and strengthen your creative vision throughout the week.

By the end of this immersive photography course in Sicily, you’ll leave with greater technical knowledge, renewed creative confidence, and a portfolio of beautiful images that capture the unforgettable landscapes, culture, and atmosphere of one of Italy’s most inspiring destinations.
